According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the area continues to be affected by cold air, beware of unseasonal thunderstorms and high tides.

In the next 24-48 hours, the continental cold high pressure will continue to strengthen southward. Northeast winds will be strong in the sea area in the Southeast region.

Above, the subtropical high pressure slightly raises its axis to the North, crossing the South Central region and tending to slightly overtake to the West. The convergence of easterly winds above dominates the weather in the South in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

In the period from 3-10 days, the continental cold high pressure maintains a stable intensity, then gradually weakens; around January 12-13, cold air will be strengthened again in an East-facing direction.

The equatorial low pressure trough with an axis of about 4-7 degrees North latitude is weakly operating, then tends to gradually recede to the South. Northeast wind continues to maintain strong intensity over the sea area in the Southeast region.

Above, the subtropical high pressure raises the axis to the North and maintains stability; around January 9-10, the axis passes through the North Central region, and around January 13-14, it gradually decreases to the South, crossing the South Central region and the South.

The weather in the South is generally dry, humidity decreases, posing a high risk of fires and explosions. On some days, there is a feeling of coolness at night and early morning; strong sunshine during the day can affect health.

Unseasonal showers and thunderstorms are likely to appear in the late afternoons of January 5-6; it is necessary to be wary of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.

The water level at most stations on the Saigon River on January 5th changed slowly, then decreased rapidly. The highest tide peak of the day at Phu An and Nha Be stations continued to maintain above alarm level II until the end of January 6th; at Thu Dau Mot station until the end of January 7th.

It is necessary to be wary of strong Northeast winds combined with high tides that can cause flooding in low-lying areas, riverside areas, affecting traffic and socio-economic activities in Ho Chi Minh City.
