In the afternoon of June 27, monitoring on satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning positioning data showed that convective cloud areas are developing strongly, causing showers with thunderstorms and lightning in many areas of wards and communes such as Hanh Thong, Phu Nhuan, Gia Dinh, Go Vap, An Nhon, An Khanh, Binh Loi Trung, Tang Nhon Phu, Binh Quoi...
In the next 3 hours, convective cloud areas will continue to develop, maintaining showers, thunderstorms and lightning in the above areas, and expanding to many other areas such as Thu Duc, Phuoc Long, Long Truong, Tam Binh, An Khanh, Saigon, Ben Thanh.
Common rainfall is from 5-20 mm, in some places over 25 mm. During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (8-17 m/s). Heavy rain in a short time can cause localized flooding in low-lying areas.
Weather pattern forecast for the next 24-48 hours, the low pressure trough with its axis passing through the Northern region continues to weaken. Southwest monsoon maintains medium intensity.
Above, the southern branch of the subtropical high pressure with its axis through the South East Sea will gradually rise to the North and encroach to the West, while convergence above still exists in the Southern region. From around June 28, a low pressure trough will form in the Northwest - Southeast direction passing through the Central region and the Central East Sea.
In the period from 3-10 days, a low pressure trough with axis of about 24-27 degrees North latitude connected to the hot low pressure area to the West will develop and expand to the East.
The Southwest monsoon continues to operate at medium intensity and tends to gradually strengthen from around June 30. The low pressure trough through the Central region and the Central East Sea is also operating more strongly.
Above, the southern branch of the subtropical high pressure weakens, while the northern branch tends to encroach westward, combined with convergence of southwest winds operating effectively in the Southern region.
Therefore, in the coming days, the South will maintain a common weather pattern with showers and thunderstorms in some places at night; sunny during the day; scattered showers and thunderstorms from late afternoon to evening, with locally heavy rain in some places.
