A year ago, in September 2024, due to the impact of Storm No. 3 Yagi, two major rivers flowing through Phu Tho province, the Red River (Thao River) and the Lo River, flooded very high, exceeding the Warning Level 3, exceeding historical floods.
For the Red River, at 5:00 p.m. on September 10, the water level of the Thao River at Am Thuong (old Ha Hoa district) was at 2.72 m above Alert Level 3, 1.4 m above the historic flood in 1971 .

For the Lo River, at 7:00 p.m. on September 11, 2024, the flood level recorded at Vu Quang station (old Doan Hung district, Phu Tho province) peaked at 21.21m, 0.71m above Alert Level 3.
At that time, the Red River and the Lo River were flooded, overflowing the dykes, causing many areas along the river to be flooded and isolated. In particular, on September 9, 2024, the high water level of the Red River, which flowed rapidly, caused the Phong Chau bridge on the Red River to collapse, causing many losses in human lives and property.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper in early September, the water level of the Red River and Lo River in Phu Tho province was still quite high, cloudy but not as strong as the flood at the end of August.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting's short-term warning and forecast bulletin, the water level of the Red River and the Lo River is changing slowly. The water level on the Red River at Phu Tho station at 7:00 a.m. on September 7 was 13.46 m. At the same time, the water level on the Lo River at Vu Quang station was 6.32m.

However, according to the forecast, in September this year, the water level of the above rivers in Phu Tho province, although floods will occur, will not increase in breadth, even lower than in August 2025.
According to the Forecast and Long-term Hydrological Warning, in September, there is a possibility of a flood on the Red River with a water amplitude of 2 - 3m.
According to the actual water level data table measured and forecasted on major rivers, the Red River water level in September at Phu Tho station is forecast to be the highest at 16.00m (16.66m in August), the lowest at 13.20m (12.86m in August), the average is 14.00m (14.85m in August).

For the Lo River, the water level will continue to fluctuate according to the regulation of the above hydropower plants in the early period and is likely to rise rapidly in the middle period; there is a possibility of 1-2 floods in the basin with water amplitude increasing by 2-3m.
It is forecasted that in September, the water level of the Lo River at Vu Quang station will be the highest at 10.80m (August is 10.00m), the average is 7.20m (August is 7.76m), the lowest is 5.80m (August is 6.65m).
