Located in the core area of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex - World Cultural and Natural Heritage, Thung Nham bird garden is one of the destinations that attracts tens of thousands of visitors to travel in spring.
Thung Nham bird sanctuary is currently known as the largest natural bird sanctuary in the North, with dozens of bird species with hundreds of individuals living together in one cluster.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Lan, representative of the Thung Nham bird sanctuary management unit (Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu city, Ninh Binh) shared that for many years, wild birds have flocked to Thung Nham to live and nest here. Thung Nham has become home to the largest bird species in the Northern region today.

According to Ms. Lan, in previous years in winter, the flock of birds often Midgrated to the South to avoid the cold. However, in recent years, the weather in the North has not been as cold as before, so the herds of "old Guard" birds have stayed at their main house in Thung Nham.
For non-mmigating birds to avoid the cold, this is also a favorable condition for visitors to directly see the wild wild birds with hundreds of thousands of birds in this special bird sanctuary.
Seen from above, the entire Thung Nham bird sanctuary area is surrounded by towering limestone mountains, below which is a large lake and many trees. On the canopy of trees growing at the foot of the mountain or under the lake, each flock of birds, storks, and bean curd is covered in a characteristic white or brown color.
"In recent years, wild birds have not moved to the South, and during the New Year holiday, the bird garden has attracted tens of thousands of visitors to watch the wild birds. Many children were very excited to see birds in the wild for the first time, bird nests on trees and young birds waiting in the nest for their mother to come home to earn food," Ms. Lan shared.

Mr. Bui Van Manh - Director of Ninh Binh Provincial Department of Tourism said that Thung Nham bird garden is currently one of the top attractive destinations in Ninh Binh. Notably, this largest natural bird sanctuary in the North is now located in the core area of the world heritage and is therefore very strictly protected. The birds here are almost intact.
"The bird garden is protected in its original state, in addition, the management board also planted many types of trees to attract birds to nest, stay and live here conveniently. The fish species in the lake area where the birds live are also protected and regularly supplemented, so that the birds have a more diverse and rich food source" - Mr. Manh shared.
