Nghe An - In just a short time before Tet, electric shock incidents occurred continuously when erecting the Neu tree in Nghe An, causing many people to be severely burned.

On February 12, a serious electrical accident occurred in Dien Chau commune (Nghe An province) when 3 young men were electrocuted while erecting a bamboo Neu tree in front of their house.

According to initial information, 3 victims aged 18–20, residing in Dien Chau commune, built ladders and coordinated to erect a bamboo tree more than 12m long to welcome the traditional Tet. During the process of raising the Neu tree high, the bamboo top suddenly got caught in the 35kV medium-voltage power line, causing all 3 to be electrocuted and fall to the road surface in critical condition.

Discovering the incident, people around quickly turned off the nearby electrical switch, performed initial first aid and used cars to take the victims to the emergency room.

Leaders of Dien Chau Commune People's Committee said that all 3 victims were severely burned by electric shock. After intensive treatment, the health of the victims has passed the critical stage and is no longer life-threatening.

Previously, on February 1, in Nhan Hoa commune, a couple was also electrocuted when erecting a bamboo pole entangled in a 35kV power line. The incident caused the wife to be severely burned, at risk of having her limbs amputated, and the husband was slightly injured.
