On February 14, the People's Committee of Chanh Phu Hoa Ward (Ben Cat City, Binh Duong Province) is continuing to block both ends of the landslide site to fix the landslide on the old railway line.
According to records, the landslide occurred on the road of the socialized project, renovating the old railway line, from University College 604 to the University College 605. The road has a roadbed width of 10m, with a total length of 2.2 km. The road mainly passes through rubber gardens of households.
The landslide occurred in a section with an empty lot on one side and a rubber garden on the other. Next to the rubber garden is a stream about 4-5 m deep.
The location of the landslide was about 10 m, all the foundation concrete, asphalt, and rocks were eroded towards the stream.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Truong Minh Tri - Chairman of Chanh Phu Hoa Ward People's Committee said that the Ward People's Committee has coordinated with sectors and people to propose a plan to overcome the landslide on the old railway line.
The parties have also issued a design drawing to overcome the landslide point according to the prescribed design and expansion, ensuring enough water for timely drainage, ensuring traffic safety. The proposed plan is to place all box culverts and protection corridors to prevent further subsidence. It is expected to be fixed within 20 days.
According to Mr. Truong Minh Tri, the repair is expected to cost over 1 billion VND. "This road is built from socialized capital. There are about more than 130 households, some contributing land, some contributing money to build the road. The capital for this repair will also be implemented by the construction unit and the people" - Mr. Truong Minh Tri said.
It is known that the old railway line with a length of 2.2 km started construction in August 2024 and was inaugurated in January 2025. The cost of building this road is about 11 billion VND, contributed by households.
Previously, due to many days of rain, the large amount of water flowing here from above caused erosion affecting the road structure, causing subsidence on the morning of February 13. At the time of the landslide, 2 people passing by fell into a deep hole. Both injured victims were taken to the emergency room.
The Propaganda Department of Ben Cat City Party Committee said that on the morning of February 13, leaders of Ben Cat City and Chanh Phu Hoa Ward arrived at the scene, directed the immediate handling of the incident, ensuring security and order in the landslide area.
In addition, the authorities directed relevant units to develop immediate solutions; at the same time, directly visit, encourage and support the victims' families.
