On the morning of May 22, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quyen - Chairman of Huong Pho Commune People's Committee said that in the afternoon of May 21, while fishing in Khe Am in Huong Do commune, N.V.D (born 2010, residing in hamlet 1, Huong Pho commune, 10th grade student at Ham Nghi High School) and N.H. T (born 2010, residing in hamlet 2, Huong Pho commune, 10th grade student at Huong Khe High School) unfortunately drowned.
Until late afternoon, not seeing the students return home, the families of the 2 male students, together with many people and local authorities, organized a search.
At about 10 pm on the same day, the bodies of the 2 children were found in Khe Am, Huong Do commune.
According to the Chairman of Huong Pho Commune People's Committee, after the police completed the autopsy procedures, at about 3 am on May 22, functional agencies handed over the bodies of the 2 children to their families for funeral and burial.
According to initial assessments from leaders of Huong Pho commune, it is likely that while fishing, one child slipped and fell into a deep crevice, and the other child went down to rescue unsuccessfully, causing both to die.
After the painful incident, local authorities also organized visits and condolences to the families of the victims.
