According to the report, at about 3:45 pm on May 18, Song Lo Commune People's Committee received a report from the Commune Police force about a group of 9 students (4 children born in 2013, 5 children born in 2012, all male; residing in Yen Phu, Yen Luong, Yen Kieu villages) inviting each other to shoot, trap birds and swim in the river area along the Lo River in Yen Kieu village.
During the play, 5 children fell into the river and drowned.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, leaders of the Commune Police and related departments, agencies, and units were directly present at the scene to direct rescue and relief work.
The Commune People's Committee has mobilized local forces to coordinate with the Fire and Rescue Police Department to organize the search for missing cases; and at the same time deploy security and order assurance, visit and encourage families of victims.
As of 5:00 p.m. the same day, rescue forces had recovered the bodies of 5 victims, including: N.T.L, born in 2013, residing in Yen Kien village; B.X.N, N.M.Q, N.C.T, N.V.T - both born in 2012, residing in Yen Phu village.
Currently, functional agencies are continuing to verify and clarify the case.
