For many years, people living along Provincial Road 170, from Yen The town (Luc Yen district) to Vinh Kien commune (Yen Binh district) have had to live in insecurity and anxiety because the road surface is damaged, has sunk, and has exposed many rocks and potholes.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh (29 years old, Vinh Kien, Yen Binh) said that it is difficult for cars to move here, not to mention motorbikes.
"For motorcyclists like me, traveling here is no different from a nightmare, the road is full of dust and potholes," said Ms. Quynh.
According to Mr. Tran Van Hoan (32 years old, also residing in Vinh Kien commune), this is a vital route, with heavy vehicles frequently traveling but rarely repaired or maintained.
"On rainy days, the road has many dangerous "buffalo wallows". Therefore, I hope the project will be implemented and completed soon to make people's travel less difficult," said Mr. Linh.
According to Lao Dong's report on November 18, provincial road 170 (Yen The - Vinh Kien) has seriously degraded, the road surface is sagging, peeling, high in some places, low in others due to lack of repair for a long time.
Not only that, some locations have exposed dangerous slippery ground, a series of potholes and potholes with stagnant water after the rain, making it difficult for vehicles to move through.
Faced with the above situation, on June 11, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Bai province approved the Project to repair damaged roadbeds, road surfaces, drainage systems and traffic safety systems from Km5 to Km9+500; build drainage culverts at Km2+270, Km19+450 and Km23+420 of Yen The - Vinh Kien road (DT 170), with a total investment of more than 27 billion VND.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Chairman of Minh Tien Commune Trieu Ngoc Duong said that Provincial Road 170 is an important artery.
"Every day, hundreds of trucks carrying rocks pass by, causing the road surface to deteriorate. The commune has reported this issue to the district and the Economic - Infrastructure Department. The province has approved a project to renovate the above road so that people can travel safely," said Chairman of Minh Tien commune.
In a recent response to voters, the Yen Bai Department of Transport said that it is currently selecting a construction contractor along Provincial Road 170. At the same time, to prepare for the 2025 repair and maintenance plan, the Department is submitting to the Provincial People's Committee for approval a list of projects for 2025, including the section from Luong Thuc slope to Minh Xuan gas station (along Provincial Road 170) and the drainage culvert at Km2+800.
