Lo Lu route (Long Phuoc ward) is currently being upgraded and expanded according to the project approved by the Department of Transport (now the Department of Construction) since 2018. The project has a total length of about 2,034 m, divided into two construction sections.
Section 1 extends from La Xuan Oai Street to the intersection with the Lap Bridge construction project, about 1,767.11 m long. Section 2 is about 267 m long, from the Chum Chup Bridge construction project to Nguyen Xien Street.
Before being upgraded, Lo Lu Street was severely damaged, especially during the rainy season. The road surface is full of potholes, many sections of the road have sunk deeply, creating water-logged holes every time there is heavy rain, causing danger to road users.

Faced with the above situation, on June 26, 2025, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City (formerly) coordinated with the Thu Duc City Construction Investment Project Management Board to organize a groundbreaking ceremony for the project to upgrade and expand Lo Lu Street, aiming to gradually complete the urban infrastructure, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development in the eastern part of the city.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper on December 23, the XL2 package is currently being paved with layer 1 asphalt, the road surface is relatively flat, making travel more convenient. Workers are urgently rolling the road surface and constructing sidewalk wings.
A representative of the Thu Duc City Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the project consists of two main packages. package XL1 (from La Xuan Oai Street to Road 6) has currently reached about 50% of the construction volume. Package XL2 (from Road No. 6 to Nguyen Xien) has reached about 80% and is expected to complete the first layer of asphalt paving this December," the representative informed.
According to the plan, both XL1 and XL2 packages will be paved with asphalt, completing the sidewalk wrap before Tet, then continuing to complete items such as lighting systems, electricity, fiber optic cables after Tet. As for package XL2, the construction unit is making efforts to complete the main items before the Lunar New Year.
The renovation of the road has brought many positive changes to people's lives. Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhi, a trader on Lo Lu Street, shared: "Previously, the road was bad, dusty, and people rarely passed by, so business was difficult. Now the road is clear, with sidewalks, convenient transportation, and it is easier for customers to stop in, so business is also more convenient".
Sharing the same joy, Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Trang (residing in Long Phuoc ward) expressed: "People are very excited when the road is upgraded. In the past, every time it rained, the water stagnated into potholes, making students easily slip and fall. Now the road is dry, clean, no longer dusty, traveling is much safer".
