Lao Dong Newspaper on February 2nd published an article "Nguyen Tuan Street Project: Dusty, construction causes traffic unsafety", reflecting the fact that the contractor constructing the Nguyen Tuan street expansion project (Thanh Xuan ward, Hanoi) causes dust and dirt, and does not fully implement safety measures.
After the reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Do Quang Duong - Chairman of Thanh Xuan Ward People's Committee said that he would direct an immediate inspection.
However, when returning to the construction site of the Nguyen Tuan road expansion project on February 3 and 4, PV recorded that the above situation has not been remedied by the construction unit.

According to records, many areas on the route are dug up jaggedly. Mud, construction materials, and box culverts are gathered haphazardly along the road.
There are some sections where contractors are constructing underground sewer systems, but no barriers or warning signs are installed... posing a risk of unsafety for traffic participants.

Many people expressed dismay and worry about their own safety every time they travel through Nguyen Tuan street.
Mr. D. C (Thanh Xuan ward) said that so far, he has not seen any traffic project where people walk and worry as much as the Nguyen Tuan road expansion project.
The construction unit of this road section is very careless and irresponsible to the community. Construction allows mud and soil to spill all over the road, causing dust. Some sections have water flowing all over the road surface, causing slipperiness, rudimentary barriers and iron bars protruding into the walkway..." - Mr. D. C said.
According to people's reflections, the entrances and exits of schools on the route are also occupied by machinery and construction materials, causing danger to students' travel, including 3 kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools.
Previously, the Vu Trong Phung road expansion project was done for a longer time but I didn't see dust and messy like this. The Nguyen Tuan road project works all year round, on holidays, and when Tet Nguyen Dan approaches, it is dug up, making people's lives extremely miserable" - Ms. Le Hoa (living on Nguyen Tuan street) said.

And Mr. L.T. N said that he rents premises for 30 million VND/month to trade for the past 3 years on Nguyen Tuan street.
Over the past time, his store has often had to close due to road excavation, power cuts, dust and traffic jams.
The first two years were traffic jams, the third year was road construction. With this situation, I don't know if I can survive anymore" - Mr. N said.

In the afternoon of February 4, PV continued to contact the leaders of Thanh Xuan Ward People's Committee to get more information about the incident.
Mr. Do Quang Duong - Chairman of Thanh Xuan Ward People's Committee said that regarding the previous reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper, he has assigned the Director of the Investment - Infrastructure Project Management Board to inspect.
Mr. Dang Hoang Linh - Director of the Investment - Infrastructure Project Management Board of Thanh Xuan Ward said that in the ward, 2 traffic projects are being implemented, including the project to expand Nguyen Tuan road and Ring Road 2.5 section Nguy Nhu Kon Tum - Nguyen Trai.
Accordingly, Mr. Linh is currently in charge of site clearance for the Ring Road 2.5 project, and the Nguyen Tuan road expansion project is assigned to a Deputy Director of the Project Management Board.
Regarding the Nguyen Tuan road project, Mr. Linh informed: "The ward is trying its best to complete the road before the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year, so this and that cannot be avoided.
And Mr. Le Viet Thanh - Deputy Director of the Investment - Infrastructure Project Management Board of Thanh Xuan ward (in charge of the Nguyen Tuan road expansion project) said that he will re-examine the content reflected by Lao Dong Newspaper related to the construction organization process of the contractor.

Many people believe that the investor needs to re-evaluate the capacity of the construction unit.
If the construction situation is messy, unsafe, and seriously affects people's lives and is not soon overcome, it is necessary to consider strict penalties, even replacing other capable contractors, to ensure progress as well as safety during construction.
