Gia Lai issues "ultimatum" for coastal resort project

Gia Lai - If the coastal resort project continues to be delayed and slow to be put into construction, it will be considered for revocation.

On April 3, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board to urge and supervise the progress of the Phuong Mai Bay Resort project in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone.

The project is a high-class resort complex combined with unique marine ecotourism, meeting 5-star international standards. The project scale is expected to include 600 5-star hotel rooms, 600 4-star hotel rooms and 166 villas. The expected implementation schedule is from July 2018 to July 2024.

However, up to now, the project implementation progress is still very slow. Previously, the Gia Lai Provincial Economic Zone Management Board had a document sent to the Provincial People's Committee, proposing a plan to terminate operations for the Phuong Mai Bay Resort project, with a total investment of 1,780 billion VND.

However, the investor hopes that the province will create conditions to continue implementation and commits to completing and putting the entire project into operation by the end of 2027.

To avoid delays affecting the investment environment, in April 2026, the Provincial People's Committee requested the investor to focus resources, human resources, machinery, and equipment; at the latest in June 2026, construction must be organized and deployed on the site.

The province requests the investor to regularly report on the project implementation situation, complete it before April 5, 2026, and clearly state the reasons for delay and failure to implement it.

In case of violation, the investor must agree to the termination and revocation of the project and have no complaints.

In Gia Lai, land locations along the coast have great potential for tourism and resorts. Ensuring fast construction of projects to serve socio-economic development and effectively use land resources.
