On May 5, Lao Dong news source said that Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has no plan to deploy the construction of the Provincial Administrative Center in the 2026-2031 term.
According to the leader of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, the current policy of the Party and State is to temporarily postpone the construction of the administrative center, except in truly urgent cases.
Currently, the working headquarters of the provincial administrative agencies are old, which can be considered an urgent need. However, the more urgent task is to focus resources on investing in the development of the western area of the province.
In this term, the province prioritizes resources for socio-economic development. If budget revenue achieves good results, the next term will deploy the construction of the Provincial Administrative Center Area," said the leader of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee.

Also according to the leader of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, the expected location for building the Administrative Center Area is in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone. Currently, location options are still being considered and selected.
Previously, at the end of October 2025, the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Construction proposed to the Provincial People's Committee locations for building the Provincial Administrative Center in the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone.
This proposal is assessed as being in accordance with regulations, serving as a basis for updating in the general planning project preparation step.
Through researching the Phuong Mai peninsula area (Quy Nhon Dong ward), inter-sectoral agencies (including the Department of Finance, Department of Agriculture and Environment, Provincial Economic Zone Management Board) have proposed 3 options for the location of the Provincial Administrative Center.
Option 1 is a strip of land along Thi Nai lagoon (to the west of the specialized road to the west), with a scale of about 50ha. Location with convenient connecting traffic, near Quy Nhon center, open space facing Thi Nai lagoon.
However, the land area is narrow, stretching in a north-south direction, without depth of construction. The east borders production areas of Industrial Zone (IZ) A, which is not suitable for the nature of the administrative center. The planned area has low terrain, weak geology, and high construction costs.
Option 2 is the converted land area belonging to Urban Area C (Nhon Hoi Industrial Park - Area C), with a scale of about 50ha. This is the central location of Nhon Hoi Economic Zone, with direct views of Thi Nai lagoon and Gia Lai western area, leaning against Phuong Mai mountain, near Nhon Ly sea and large tourist and urban areas. The land area has a favorable altitude, has been leveled, good traffic connection, near Phu Cat airport, Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway and North - South expressway.
However, this area was previously assigned to the infrastructure investor of Nhon Hoi Industrial Park - Zone C.
Option 3 is the converted land area belonging to Urban Area A (sub-zone 4, Nhon Hoi Economic Zone), with a scale of about 50ha. This location has been leveled, with low infrastructure investment costs.
But the land plot is located between production areas, the main direction is difficult to open the Thi Nai lagoon space, affecting the landscape and environment. Previously, this land plot was also assigned to the investor to do business in the infrastructure of Nhon Hoi Industrial Park - Zone A.
After consideration, the inter-sectoral delegation found that option 2 is the most suitable for the nature of building the Gia Lai Provincial Administrative Center.
