Gia Lai builds a remuneration mechanism to retain good doctors

Gia Lai - Consulting on building a remuneration policy will contribute to retaining good doctors in public hospitals.

On October 14, the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health said that the unit is collecting opinions from individuals and units in the area on the content of the policy on treatment, attraction and training of medical human resources at public medical facilities in the province in the period of 2025 - 2030.

The Provincial Department of Health collects opinions to draft a Resolution to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and the Provincial People's Council for approval.

The drafting of a Resolution on remuneration for doctors aims to limit the situation of quitting, leaving work, and transferring to private medical facilities with more attractive salaries.

According to statistics, in 2023, after the COVID-19 pandemic, Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital had up to 35 employees quit their jobs, affecting the quality of medical examination and treatment for people.

At the Provincial General Hospital, the hospital infrastructure is degraded, most of the equipment has been used for too long, many of the equipment are old and outdated.

Currently, hospitals such as Mental Hospital, Tuberculosis and Lung Hospital, Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital, etc. are lacking skilled and experienced doctors.

After two years of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of patients coming to the hospital and being transferred from the district level has decreased sharply, so the hospital's revenue is limited and cannot cover expenses. Many doctors have been disciplined and have been fired to be transferred to work at private hospitals.
