Lao Cai - From people's reports, the police force promptly discovered and prevented wild bird hunting activities, and then released them back into nature.

In mid-September, from people's reflections on the fact that some subjects used nets and loudspeakers to broadcast birdsong and traps to hunt wild birds in the Ta Xua village area, bordering Sim Vang commune (Son La province), Hanh Phuc Commune Police (Son La province) organized an inspection of the border mountain peak area.

Detecting functional forces, some subjects took advantage of the dark night to run away, leaving behind many hunting tools.

Checking the scene, the police force discovered 31 birds, of which 7 storks were dead and 24 were still alive.

The surviving birds were taken to be released in the protection forest area of Ta Xua village. The dead storks were handled according to regulations.

On the morning of September 14, Lien Son Commune Police received information from people and conducted an inspection in the Ban Van village area.

Here, functional forces discovered 2 invisible nets, 1 trap cover net and 20 fake storks - tools used to hunt wild birds.

In addition to inspecting and preventing violations, Lao Cai Police strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to hand over wild animals when they are discovered or managed.

Recently, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, residing in Van Phu ward, discovered a lost monkey in her family. Realizing that this was a wild animal, she proactively contacted and voluntarily handed it over to functional agencies.

Through verification, the monkey individual is a golden monkey (Macaca mulatta), belonging to group IIB - endangered, precious, rare forest animal, weighing about 3.5kg and in good health.

After that, Van Phu Ward Police coordinated with Tran Yen District Forest Protection Department to hand over the monkey to Hoang Lien Tourism and Biodiversity Conservation Center for care, rescue and re-release to a suitable natural environment.

Previously, another golden monkey, weighing about 5kg, was also handed over to the rescue center. This individual regularly goes to residential areas to find food.

After being propagated and mobilized by the Ward Police, Mr. Hoang Dinh Hai's family and people agreed to hand him over instead of arbitrarily keeping him in captivity.

Along with the Forest Protection force and functional agencies, the Police of communes and wards continue to mobilize people not to hunt, buy, sell, transport, or illegally raise wild animals and proactively inform when violations are detected.
