Lao Cai - Heavy rain causing flash floods in Xuan Ai commune caused a man to be swept away by water while driving a motorbike through a spillway.

On August 5, Lao Cai Provincial Police informed that heavy rain in Xuan Ai commune caused flash floods in some streams. Thanks to training and fostering skills for forces at the grassroots level, it has contributed to protecting the safety of people during the rainy and storm season.

Accordingly, at about 12:30 pm on August 4, Mr. Ngo Trung Son (born in 1986, residing in Hong Ha 5 residential group, Yen Bai ward) was driving a motorbike through a spillway in Quyet Tien village when he was suddenly swept away by floodwaters.

Immediately after receiving the news, Xuan Ai Commune Police coordinated with forces participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level of Quyet Tien village and the Shock Team for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, search and rescue to urgently arrive at the scene.

The forces quickly approached, took Mr. Son to a safe place, and at the same time organized the search for the motorbike swept away by floodwaters.

After nearly 4 hours of effort, at about 4:30 pm on the same day, functional forces found the car about 1km from the location of the incident and handed it over to the owner.

According to Xuan Ai Commune Police, rescue and search for property are being deployed urgently, ensuring safety for people and property, and promoting the effectiveness of the "4 on-the-spot" motto in disaster response.
