Hung Dao commune authorities have issued a notice prohibiting people and vehicles from traveling across the bridge from 7 am on September 17. At both ends of the bridge, functional forces are on duty 24/24.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Quang Khanh (68 years old, residing in An Khanh commune) said that flooding on Dai Thanh bridge often occurs every time there is prolonged heavy rain.

In the afternoon of September 17, Mr. Dinh Van Huy (40 years old, from Van Mieu commune, Phu Tho province) moved from his hometown to his workplace in Hung Dao commune.
However, when arriving at Dai Thanh bridge (An Khanh commune side), Mr. Huy could not cross the bridge because functional agencies had banned traffic due to the bridge being flooded.
Mr. Huy said that in August, when Dai Thanh bridge was flooded, he had to park his car at people's houses, then walk across the bridge to get to work. 3 days later, when the water receded and vehicles were cleared, he returned to pick up his car.
However, this time the water is rising higher and it is not known when it will recede, Mr. Huy must find a replacement route.
Accordingly, he will have to go to Mai Linh bridge (National Highway 6), then move to his workplace in Hung Dao commune, with a total distance of about 10km, 10 times further than crossing Dai Thanh bridge.

Faced with the above situation, the biggest aspiration of the people here is to have the government pay attention to repairing the old bridge, or invest in rebuilding a more solid bridge so that people can travel conveniently every rainy and storm season.
According to Hung Dao Commune People's Committee, the bridge structure of Dai Thanh bridge has weakened, with the risk of collapse or slippage under high current pressure.
Through actual inspection and review of the prolonged heavy rain situation, the water level in the Dai Thanh bridge area has risen, the flow is strong, posing a serious risk of traffic unsafety for people and vehicles when traveling across the bridge.
Therefore, the government will temporarily suspend traffic completely for all vehicles and people passing through the Dai Thanh bridge area until further notice.
It is requested that agencies, units, schools and the entire People proactively grasp information, arrange work, and choose other safer alternative routes and routes; absolutely do not move or intentionally pass through the Dai Thanh bridge area from the above time.
In addition to Dai Thanh, 2 other bridges connecting Hung Dao and An Khanh communes, Tan Phu temporary bridge and temporary bridge 72, were also flooded. Local authorities are currently temporarily prohibiting people and vehicles from traveling.
