lever for urban development of Sa Huynh
For more than 20 years, the old Thanh Duc bridge across Nuoc Mat lagoon has been an important traffic route of Sa Huynh ward. Connecting the eastern residential area with National Highway 1.
However, after a long period of exploitation, the bridge has seriously degraded. Many items are damaged, bridge piers are cracked, bridge spans are sunk, railings are peeling... posing a potential risk of insecurity. People passing by are both inconvenienced and worried. Therefore, investing in the construction of a new bridge not only ensures traffic safety but also creates momentum for the development of Sa Huynh.
In November 2023, the new Thanh Duc bridge was started with a total investment of 265 billion VND. The bridge is more than 665m long, of which the main bridge is 557m long and 13m wide.
The project is designed modernly in the form of a prestressed reinforced concrete girder bridge, including 17 spans, with 4 traffic lanes. The new bridge was built about 250m north of the old bridge.

After nearly 2 years of construction, Thanh Duc Bridge has now been basically completed and is ready to open to traffic to serve the travel needs of the people. At the same time, it contributes to completing the local infrastructure, creating momentum to promote economic and social development in the southern area of Quang Ngai.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nguyen - Director of the Project Management Board for Investment, Construction and Land Fund Development in Duc Pho area said that the project has completed all items in early August 2025. In the coming time, the Department of Construction will organize acceptance work, complete procedures according to regulations to hand over and open the project to traffic.
According to local leaders, when officially put into operation, Thanh Duc Bridge will not only make travel more convenient and safer, but also create a premise to expand the urban space of Sa Huynh and be a lever to promote tourism and trade development. The project is expected to become an infrastructure highlight, contributing to improving the quality of life of people and serving the strategy of developing coastal urban space in the future.
Mr. Tran Van Luc, in Sa Huynh ward, expressed: "With a new bridge, travel is more convenient, goods are circulating easily. But more importantly, this bridge will help Sa Huynh expand infrastructure, form and develop coastal urban areas. We believe that our hometown will develop more and more, and the lives of the people will increase."
Shortening the barrier, connecting the two banks of Tra Bong
Not only Sa Huynh, joy also spreads to people on both sides of the Tra Bong River when Thach An bridge crosses the river, connecting Binh Minh commune (north coast) and Binh Chuong (south coast, old Binh My commune) has just been completed.
The Thach An bridge project has a total length of nearly 1.8km, with a total investment of 150 billion VND. The project started in October 2022 with the old Binh Son District Investment and Construction Project Management Board as the investor. After more than 2 years of construction efforts, the project has now completed all items and is ready for exploitation.

The completion of Thach An Bridge will meet traffic needs, shorten travel time for people, create conditions to serve the economic and social development of Binh Minh, Binh Chuong communes and neighboring areas...
Mr. Tran Canh, in Binh Minh commune, said: "I have always wished for this bridge. In the past, to cross the river, you had to go around for dozens of kilometers, but if you took a boat, you were very worried, if it was raining, you would lose. Now that there is a bridge, people can travel easily, and transporting agricultural products is also more convenient".
In addition to the significance of economic and social development, the project also supports the rescue work of thousands of households in the flooded areas of Binh Minh - Binh Chuong, which are often deeply flooded and isolated during the rainy season.
The leader of the Binh Son Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the unit has reported the completion of the project to the new investor. In the near future, the Department of Construction will organize acceptance, conduct handover to put into use, meet the travel needs of the people and promote investment efficiency.
