New Year's Eve
After two months of "celebrating Tet" at sea, fishing boat PY 90217 TS (420CV) of Mr. Vo Ngoc Nhut (35 years old, residing in Ward 4, Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen) docked at Dong Tac fishing port (Tuy Hoa City) on the morning of February 5 (ie the 8th day of Tet), bringing back more than 2 tons of ocean tuna to shore.

"On this year's Tet trip, my boat caught 46 tuna. With the current price (VND100,000/kg), after deducting expenses, there is still enough left to share with everyone for a late Tet. It is very exciting to catch such a quantity at the beginning of the year. Fish are becoming scarcer and scarcer, I just hope that fish prices will increase so that fishermen will have more income and motivation to continue going out to sea," said Mr. Nhut.
Previously, on the morning of February 3 (the 6th day of Tet), fishing boat numbered PY 96617 TS, owned and captained by Mr. Nguyen Hue (residing in Ward 6, Tuy Hoa City), docked at Dong Tac fishing port after a trip across Tet.

Mr. Nguyen Hue said that the sea trip during the Lunar New Year in early 2025 was quite favorable when the sea was calm, the wind was light, and the catch yield was as expected.
"We have transported 70 tuna (weighing 35 - 40 kg each) to shore to sell to traders. Prices are relatively stable this time, so the Tet fishing trip has a profit to share with everyone, each person gets about 15 to 20 million VND," said Mr. Hue.
The voyage achieved productivity
Phu Yen currently has 4 fishing ports, including: Dong Tac, Phu Lac, Dan Phuoc and Tien Chau. The whole province currently has nearly 2,900 fishing vessels, of which more than 400 vessels specialize in exploiting ocean tuna, with an annual output of about 3,500 - 4,000 tons.

Since December 29, the province has had more than 70 fishing vessels docked at the port, mainly ocean tuna. The total catch is nearly 50 tons. In addition, there are more than 10 fishing boats fishing for striped tuna, scad, and mackerel in the neighboring waters.
Speaking with Lao Dong, the Dong Tac Fishing Port Representative Office said that during this year's Tet holiday, fishermen basically achieved their catch, catching an average of 50 to 70 ocean tuna per boat.

At Dong Tac fishing port, ocean tuna is purchased by traders at 100,000 VND/kg for grade 1 fish, an increase of 5 - 10,000 VND/kg compared to before. With this price, fishermen have a stable income after deducting the cost of fuel and necessities for the sea trips.
Mr. Ha Vien - Director of Phu Yen Province Fishing Port Management Board said that currently, fishermen in the province are implementing well the regulations on fishing at sea, not encroaching on foreign waters, and ensuring the recording of fishing journeys.
Thanks to favorable weather, the output of ocean tuna has increased over the years. Fishermen have exploited effectively and prices have been stable, so they organize many fishing trips during the year. Provincial management agencies have created all conditions for fishermen to register for fishing and dock for export, thereby contributing to the whole country removing the yellow card of the European Commission on illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU).
