As part of the series of events of the Vietnam - Asia Digital Summit 2026, on the morning of May 28, the plenary session with the theme "Creating new drivers for double-digit growth" officially took place in Hanoi.
The forum was organized by the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) with the participation of more than 2,000 delegates from 12 economies and 18 provinces and cities in the country; along with representatives of leading international and Vietnamese technology corporations.
Speaking at the forum, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong said that at the conference summarizing one year of implementing Resolution 57 of the Politburo, the Central Steering Committee for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation has determined: if 2025 is the "start-up, warm-up" phase, then 2026 Vietnam must immediately move to the "acceleration" phase with the action motto "Progressive action, spreading results".
The Ministry of Science and Technology requests ministries and sectors to proactively identify practical and daily problems and obstacles of people and businesses, without waiting for people and businesses to propose. Businesses should proactively propose breakthrough plans and methods in using digital technology to solve these problems effectively; including the requirement to change and adjust procedures and current regulations so that digital technology can be applied to solve problems. In the process of implementation, it should be aimed at specific problems, but when successful and effective, it is necessary to deploy it in a wide range to create a spreading effect.
According to Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong, digital institutions and government, artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure and data are important and inseparable components of the national digital transformation process. Digital transformation, digital technology, databases, and AI bring many enormous benefits, but also pose the requirement to strengthen interconnection not only within one country but also countries in the region and around the world.
I hope that businesses, products, and technology solutions today will truly go into life, supporting the resolution of the problems of people, businesses, and agencies and organizations across the country and around the world," Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong emphasized.
At the event, Mr. Ngo Dien Hy, Vice President of VINASA, Deputy General Director of VNPT Group, said that Vietnam is entering a new stage of development with the goal of double-digit economic growth in the 2026-2030 period. This is not only a goal for growth rate, but also a requirement to transform the national growth model.
In that context, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation are becoming new and most important growth drivers. The digital economy must shoulder the core role, the digital technology industry must take on two vital strategic tasks: Promoting research and development of science and technology, innovation as a driving force to improve productivity for the entire real economy; pioneering the exploration and self-development of new development spaces.
According to Mr. Ngo Dien Hy, the Vietnamese digital technology community must have enough bravery to build and lead strategic fronts such as AI, low-level economy, Robotics technology or quantum technology. These are new lands that bring huge "technology surplus", deciding Vietnam's new ranking on the global supply chain map.
