Navy repairs fishermen's fishing boats encountering incidents in Truong Sa

Khanh Hoa - Ship 744 of Naval Flotilla 129 has mobilized to approach and repair a fishing vessel that encountered an incident while fishing in the Truong Sa archipelago area.

On September 11, during fishing in the sea area southeast of point A, Nui Le island, belonging to the Truong Sa archipelago, about 5 nautical miles, fishing vessel BD98629TS of Gia Lai province had a broken connection of the net winch shaft steering system.

The fishing boat is captained by Mr. Do Van Hoang, in Hoa Nhon Dong commune, Gia Lai province. There are 4 crew members on board, engaged in purse seine fishing.

At about 8:05 am on September 11, the captain of the fishing boat contacted through channel A10 to ship 744 of Naval Flotilla 922, Naval Flotilla 129, Navy Command, which was on duty in the Nui Le island area, to request urgent support.

Upon receiving the information, ship 744 maneuvered to the location of fishing vessel BD98629TS. Staff on board proceeded to survey, repair and fix the problem for the fishing vessel.

By 4 pm on the same day, the incident was fixed. Fishing vessel BD98629TS continued its journey to reach out to sea and catch seafood.

On this occasion, Ship 744 also propagated to fishermen about combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; and at the same time donated life jackets, national flags and supported 4,000 liters of fresh water for fishermen.
