The two busiest bus routes in Ho Chi Minh City have switched to electric vehicles

HCMC - Routes 33 (An Suong Bus Station - Ho Chi Minh City National University) and 150 (Cho Lon Bus Station - New Mien Dong Bus Station) will switch to electric buses from December 27.

On the morning of December 26, Ho Chi Minh City Public Passenger Transport Center coordinated with Vin buses Transportation Service Company Limited to organize a ceremony to announce the operation of 58 VinFast EB 8 electric buses on routes 33 and 150.

Routes 33 and 150 are the two busiest bus routes in Ho Chi Minh City. Of which, route 33 mainly serves the daily school needs of students, while route 150 plays an important role in connecting people to medical facilities and many key areas.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Cong Nhat - General Director of Vinbus said that the entire new fleet of vehicles belongs to the modern generation of vehicles, suitable for operation in urban space. The vehicle uses an electric motor that operates smoothly, reduces noise and does not emitt it into the environment.

The vehicle design focuses on the passenger experience, with a low floor, spacious space, equipped with a wheelchair support slope for people with disabilities.

In addition, the vehicle is also equipped with a security camera system, clear journey information board, Wi-Fi and USB charging port, contributing to improving the quality of public transport services.

To ensure stable operation, the enterprise has invested in 25 120 kW charging stations, arranged in accordance with the actual exploitation needs of the lines.

According to Mr. Bui Hoa An - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the city currently has nearly 2,500 buses in operation, of which 66 routes with more than 1,082 vehicles use clean fuel, accounting for about 46%.

Ho Chi Minh City aims to have 100% of buses using green energy and being environmentally friendly by 2030.

Route 33 and Route 150 are assigned to Vin bus for exploitation from August 2025. Previously, the two routes used 43 CNG buses. After the effectiveness assessment process, Vin bus has proposed and approved to replace all of them with new electric buses produced in 2025.

In the coming time, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction recommends that Vin bus continue to organize the correct exploitation of the bus schedule, improve timeliness, and constantly improve service quality; at the same time, strengthen coordination with the Public Transport Management Center and relevant agencies to improve people's satisfaction, gradually consolidate trust and the habit of using buses.

Bus route No. 33 (An Suong Bus Station - Ho Chi Minh City National University) operates 362 trips per day with 30 VinFast Green Bus 8 electric buses, with a capacity of 60 seats, air conditioning, operating from 4:30 am to 10:00 pm.

The common ticket price is 6,000 VND/trip, students 3,000 VND/trip; the practice ticket for 30 tickets costs 135,000 VND.

Bus route No. 150 (Cho Lon Bus Station - New Mien Dong Bus Station) operates 180 trips/day, using 28 electric buses of the same type, operating from 4:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Cho Lon Bus Station and from 4:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the new Mien Dong Bus Station.

The ticket price is 7,000 VND, students 3,000 VND/trip; the experience ticket for 30 tickets costs 157,500 VND.
