On the afternoon of December 16, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Xuan - Permanent Vice Chairman of Tuy Phuoc District People's Committee (Binh Dinh) said that heavy rains in recent days have caused flooding at some schools in the district, so the locality has agreed to let students stay home from school.
"The flood water is not too big, but to ensure the safety of the students and avoid unfortunate incidents like the drowning of two students yesterday, we have to let them stay home from school until the water recedes. According to statistics, about 4,000 students from kindergarten to high school have to stay home from school due to the flood," said Mr. Xuan.
As reported, prolonged heavy rains have caused the Kon River to rise, causing widespread flooding in the downstream areas of the localities. In particular, residential areas in Phuoc Thang, Phuoc Hoa, Phuoc Son and Phuoc Thuan communes (Tuy Phuoc district) were all flooded.
