According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) - Hanoi City Police, after more than two weeks of operation (from September 27 to October 13, 2025), the artificial intelligence camera system (AI camera) has recorded more than 4,500 cases of traffic violations in Hanoi and the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway.
Running a red light, not wearing a helmet accounts for a large proportion
According to statistics, from September 27 to October 13, AI cameras at the Pham Van Bach - Hoang Quan Chi intersection (Cau Giay ward, Hanoi) detected 3,732 violations, including: 2,187 cases of not wearing helmets; 1,517 cases of running red lights; 28 cases of going in the wrong direction.
On Le Van Luong Street, the AI camera system recorded 435 cases of driving in the wrong lane.
At the same stage, AI cameras installed at km20 of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway recorded 131,298 vehicles passing through, detecting 361 cases of not wearing seat belts and 3 cases of using phones while driving.

All violations have been transferred to Hanoi City Police and functional units for handling procedures according to regulations.
AI Camera Promotes Efficiency
Since the pilot implementation, the AI camera system has proven effective in monitoring, detecting and supporting the handling of violations in a transparent and objective manner.
According to the Traffic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security, up to now, AI cameras have identified more than 20 traffic violations and continue to be trained to identify many other behaviors.
Compared to regular cameras, AI cameras are integrated with artificial intelligence, capable of analyzing, identifying and processing images and videos in real time, thereby improving the accuracy of detecting violations. The camera can also measure the speed of the vehicle, measure traffic volume to warn of congestion, adjust traffic light cycles...
The application of AI cameras to monitor and handle traffic violations is bringing positive changes. Not only does it help the authorities improve work efficiency but it also contributes to changing the awareness of traffic participants. Each step opens a new step forward in traffic management, towards building a more civilized, safe and modern traffic environment.

However, through comparison with each stage, it can be seen that people's awareness of obeying traffic laws is not stable. For example, at the Pham Van Bach - Hoang Quan Chi intersection, the error of running a red light increased from only 5 cases (October 9) to 323 cases (1112.10), then decreased to 187 (1212.10).
The AI camera system can detect violations quickly and accurately, but the decisive factor in building a safe and civilized traffic culture is still the awareness of each citizen. Each individual needs to voluntarily comply with traffic laws, respect road users, responsible drivers and comply with safety regulations.
