The project to invest in upgrading and expanding the road connecting Phong Chau bridge with the inter-regional road was approved according to Decision No. 2380/QD-UBND dated July 21, 2026 of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee.
The project has a total investment of 235.8 billion VND from the central budget according to Decision No. 262/QD-TTg dated February 9, 2026 of the Prime Minister and provincial budget for the period 2026 - 2030.
Of which, central budget capital (arranged according to Decision No. 262/QD-TTg) is 196.596 billion VND; provincial budget capital is 39.204 billion VND.
The project will invest in upgrading and expanding the section from Km76+150 - Km81+380 National Highway 32 passing through Van Xuan commune with a total length of about 4.9km, including 3 sections:
For section 1 - from Km76+150 - Km77+629.39 (1.5km long): The road surface, sidewalk design and lighting on both sides of the route will be maintained in their original state.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper on the morning of September 11, section 1 is the section of National Highway 32 from the end of the extended inter-regional road passing through the area at the beginning of Phong Chau bridge to Co Tiet intersection.
It can be seen that both sides of this road section are densely populated, with many businesses, and traffic is bustling.
Mr. Bui Van Tuyen - a businessman adjacent to National Highway 32 near Phong Chau bridge - shared: "This area is as crowded as a town, the design of sidewalks and lighting on both sides of the route will help this section be cleaner and more modern".
For section 2 - from Km77+629.39 - Km79+172.33 (1.6km long) and section 3 - from Km79+61.44 - Km81+380 (1.8km long): It will be designed, renovated and upgraded with a synchronous scale with a roadbed width of 15.5m, and reinforced road surface and shoulders of 14.5m.
According to records, the above 2 sections have their starting point at Co Tiet intersection and the ending point at Km0 of the inter-regional road. After being expanded, the road surface will become wider, making it easier for vehicles to travel.
In particular, for section 3, National Highway 32 will be constructed through the gate of Van Xuan industrial cluster, the expansion of the road will contribute to increasing investment attraction efficiency for this industrial cluster.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Do The Nam - Deputy Director of Phu Tho Regional Project Management Board said that the project is currently in the process of selecting a unit to prepare the construction drawing design, and is expected to start organizing the selection of construction contractors in November 2026.
The project is invested with the goal of completing National Highway 32 section Km76+150 - Km81+380, ensuring synchronization with the new Phong Chau bridge and inter-regional road.
From there, strengthen regional connectivity between the above traffic routes, creating a convenient connection between the western areas of the province and the old Viet Tri urban center.
At the same time, directly connect National Highway 32 to National Highway 2, Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway and other important traffic routes.
