Lao Cai - After many hours of mobilizing manpower and machinery to urgently level nearly 800m3 of landslide soil and rocks, National Highway 32 through Khao Mang commune has been temporarily opened to traffic.

In the afternoon of July 28, information from Road Construction Joint Stock Company I - Yen Bai, National Highway 32 section passing through Trong La village, Khao Mang commune has basically been temporarily opened to traffic after the positive taluy landslide incident that paralyzed traffic.

Previously, at about 8:40 PM on July 27, at Km328+550 National Highway 32, soil and rocks from the positive taluy suddenly slid down the road surface with a length of about 45m, a height of about 2m, and an estimated volume of nearly 800m3, making it impossible for vehicles to travel on the route.

Immediately after the incident occurred, the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Construction directed the Lao Cai Road Maintenance Management Board to coordinate with Road Construction Joint Stock Company I - Yen Bai to mobilize manpower and machinery to the scene to urgently overcome it.

Many excavators and trucks are mobilized to level and transport soil and rocks to quickly clear the road surface. However, due to prolonged rain, the road surface is slippery and soil and rocks are still at risk of further landslides, so handling work faces many difficulties.

After many hours of continuous construction, the landslide point has been initially handled, vehicles can pass through the area in the form of temporary traffic opening under the regulation of functional forces.

Through observation, the scene still has a lot of mud and soil, while the taluy slope is not really stable. Units continue to be on duty, monitoring developments to promptly handle if new landslides occur, and at the same time continue to collect soil and rocks, ensuring traffic safety on the route.

Road Construction Joint Stock Company I - Yen Bai recommends that people and drivers when traveling through Khao Mang commune area need to reduce speed, maintain a safe distance, comply with the instructions of traffic control forces and absolutely do not stop, park or enter the area under construction to handle landslides.
