The Yen Bai - Lao Cai expansion project of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway has just been approved for investment with a total length of more than 121km.
The route will be upgraded from 2 lanes to 4 lanes, with a 24-meter roadbed, synchronized with previously expanded sections.
There are 47 bridges on the entire route, of which 43 bridges will be expanded and 4 bridges will be fully invested in phase 2.
In particular, the project also built a new tunnel through the mountain, 530m long, located on the left side of the route, with a scale of 3 lanes for one-way traffic, meeting the standards of a 6-lane expressway, from Lao Cai to Noi Bai.

The total investment of the project is VND 7,667 billion, including VND 3,000 billion from the state budget and more than VND 4,600 billion from the Vietnam Expressway Corporation.
According to the plan, the project will be basically completed in 2026 according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
Not only serving the increasingly high demand for transportation on the Con Minh - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong economic corridor, the project also contributes significantly to inter-regional connectivity, promoting socio-economic development, ensuring national security and defense for the midland and mountainous areas of the North.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung (a driver on the Lao Cai - Hanoi route) excitedly shared: "We have been waiting for this expressway to be expanded for a long time. Hopefully, the units will soon complete the increase to 4 lanes to make travel faster and more convenient".
Information from the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) said that on October 1, at the Km237+000 toll station of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway in Gia Phu Commune, Lao Cai Province, VEC will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Yen Bai - Lao Cai Expansion Project of the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway.
