This year, Can Tho City organizes troop handover and reception at 13 clusters throughout the area. In which, the Military Handover and Receipt Ceremony point No. 9 (Vi Tan ward) was chosen as the city-level troop handover and reception organization point.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen - Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee - said that in 2026, Military Service Point No. 9 will be assigned by the City Military Service Council to the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security with 451 young people. In which, the Ministry of National Defense assigns 329 young people, and the Ministry of Public Security assigns 122 young people (including 2 women in Vi Tan ward and Vi Thanh 1 commune).


The Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is a sacred duty and noble right of all citizens. As outstanding children of communes and wards with rich revolutionary traditions, young people must see the honor and pride of being a generation that inherits and continues to promote the tradition of their homeland, follow in their fathers and brothers' footsteps, and enthusiastically set out to protect the Fatherland.
That is the expression of the noble ideal of life of youth, always yearning to contribute, ready to go anywhere according to the sacred call of the Fatherland, with the spirit of "where youth is needed, youth is there, whatever is difficult, youth is there".

City leaders hope that when becoming soldiers in the Vietnam People's Army and People's Police, young people must strive to overcome all difficulties, be determined to excellently complete their tasks; strive to become officers, professional soldiers, civil servants, public employees or after completing their tasks and returning to their localities, actively participate in building an increasingly rich and strong locality.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the City People's Committee also expressed his gratitude to the parents who gave birth, nurtured and educated 451 outstanding young people to grow up and mature, meeting the conditions for education, health, political standards, and enthusiastically volunteering to enlist in the army to serve the Fatherland.

Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee requested Party committees, authorities, and local mass organizations at all levels to regularly implement good military rear policies for families of young people enlisting to stabilize their lives, contributing to improving the quality of social security work in the city.

According to the Military Command of Can Tho City, in 2026, the whole city has assigned 5,131/5,131 citizens, reaching 100% of the target (National Defense: 3,800; Police: 1,331, including 4 women).
Regarding cultural level, secondary school reached 32.43%; high school reached 46.42%; technical expertise reached 21.15% (Intermediate level: 63, college: 475, university: 547).



At the end of the troop handover ceremony, localities have assigned enough targets to troop receiving units, achieving high quality and ensuring safety in accordance with regulations.
According to assessments, military agencies at all levels have closely coordinated with departments and mass organizations to advise Party committees and authorities to lead and direct the good implementation of the work of selecting and calling citizens to enlist in 2026. Military Service Councils at all levels have implemented the Law on Military Service correctly, ensuring publicity, democracy, fairness, and strict procedures. Propaganda work has been deployed diversely and widely, in accordance with the local situation.
