The Department of Transportation (GTVT) of Ho Chi Minh City has just announced the organization of traffic to serve the opening ceremony and after the operation of the underpass at the intersection of Tran Quoc Hoan – Phan Thuc Duyen streets.
According to that, from 7pm on August 10, vehicles can travel from Phan Dinh Giot Street to Cong Hoa Street, and Hoang Van Thu Street can travel on two routes:
Route 1: Phan Dinh Giot Street - Phan Thuc Duyen Street – Thang Long Street – Cong Hoa Street.
Route 2: Phan Dinh Giot Street - Phan Thuc Duyen Street – Tran Quoc Hoan Street – Cong Hoa Street, Hoang Van Thu Street.
Earlier, from 2pm to 3:30pm on August 10, the Department of GTVT prohibited vehicles from traveling on Phan Thuc Duyen Street (from Phan Dinh Giot Street to Tran Quoc Hoan Street) to serve the opening ceremony of the underpass.
The alternative traffic route is Hoang Van Thu Street - Phan Dinh Giot Street – turn left into Thang Son Street – Tran Quoc Hoan Street – Cong Hoa Street, Hoang Van Thu Street.
The underpass at the intersection of Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen has a budget of approximately VND 2,000 billion, and is part of the 4km-long Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa road project, which was launched at the end of 2022 with a total investment of over VND 48,000 billion.
The total length of the underpass is approximately 400m, including a 40m-long enclosed section, a 180m-long approach road to the underpass from Hoang Van Thu Park, and a 180m-long approach road to the underpass from the Air Traffic Control Center.
The entire Tran Quoc Hoan – Cong Hoa road project is expected to open on December 31, 2024.
This is a new 25m-48m-wide road, with 6 lanes, a speed limit of 50 km/h, and two branch roads with 3-4 lanes. In addition to the underpass at the intersection of Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen, the project includes a 1km-long elevated road, 4 lanes in front of T3 terminal at Tan Son Nhat Airport.
The completed project not only directly connects T3 terminal at Tan Son Nhat Airport, but also creates a new access road to the airport, breaking the monopoly of Thang Son Street, reducing traffic congestion in the area, which has been overloaded for many years.
