On the afternoon of September 11, at a regular press conference on the socio-economic situation, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction informed about the traffic congestion in the Binh Trieu Bridge area after adjusting traffic to serve the construction of the Binh Trieu 1 Bridge clearance project.
According to the Department of Construction, from August 26, 2025, Binh Trieu 1 and Binh Trieu 2 bridges have had their traffic organization adjusted to serve the construction work.
In the first week, the traffic situation was stable. However, after that, a prolonged congestion appeared on National Highway 13 and Pham Van Dong Street, especially during rush hour.
Faced with this reality, on September 9, the Department of Construction coordinated with the City Police to inspect the scene, and on September 10, held a meeting with relevant units to propose solutions to ensure traffic safety, reduce congestion and speed up the project's progress.
The agreed solutions include:
- Reversal to traffic in alley 153 National Highway 13 (Binh Thanh Ward).
- Consider banning cars during morning rush hour and adjusting traffic during afternoon rush hour at the branch road from Binh Loi bridge to National Highway 13 (towards Nguyen Xi - National Highway 13, etc.
- Install additional traffic lights at the roundabout area under Pham Van Dong overpass - National Highway 13 to regulate vehicles to Binh Trieu 2 bridge.
- Request contractors to speed up progress, focus on construction at night and day, prioritizing road surfaces for traffic; at the same time, immediately repair damaged locations on branch roads and bridge abutment areas to ensure safety.
- Strengthen traffic monitoring through the camera system, promptly provide information to VOV, VOH channels and fiber optic newspaper boards, and mobilize rapid response forces to regulate incidents.
- Request the old Eastern Bus Station (Dinh Bo Linh) to adjust departure time, avoid traffic during rush hour and limit the use of National Highway 13.
- Coordinate with the City Police and the authorities of Binh Loi Trung, Binh Thanh, Hiep Binh, and Thanh My Tay wards to strictly handle the situation of illegal parking stops and business encroachment on the roadside on Pham Van Dong and National Highway 13, Nguyen Xi.
