From the afternoon of August 26, when Binh Trieu 1 Bridge was temporarily suspended for traffic to serve the clearing project, all vehicles were moved to Binh Trieu 2 Bridge.
Binh Trieu 2 Bridge is organized for two-way traffic, in which a 3.5-meter wide lane is reserved for cars traveling from the city center to Binh Trieu intersection. Therefore, there are only 2 lanes left for vehicles to flow into the inner city.
During rush hour on the morning of August 27, when people from Binh Duong and the old Thu Duc City flocked to the center to work and study, the congestion became serious.

Cars and motorbikes lined up for kilometers on National Highway 13, inching forward to cross the bridge.

At Binh Trieu intersection, traffic was chaotic when the flow of vehicles from National Highway 13 crowded onto the bridge, colliding with the flow of vehicles from Binh Loi bridge (Pham Van Dong street).

Many people were forced to change their route, going towards the Pham Van Dong - Nguyen Xi intersection to find a way into the center of Ho Chi Minh City.
However, the large number of vehicles has caused this area to quickly fall into congestion, the flow of vehicles extended on Binh Loi Bridge, making it difficult to move.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung (35 years old, Tam Binh ward, Ho Chi Minh City) said: "It only takes me about 35 minutes to go to work every day, but this morning I was stuck for more than an hour and still could not get through Binh Trieu 2 bridge to get to the center. Motorbikes and cars jostle each other, honking loudly, very tired".
According to the records, the authorities were present to direct traffic, but due to the large traffic volume and the narrowing of the Binh Trieu 2 bridge surface for vehicles entering the center, the congestion was still prolonged.
