Through field inspection, authorities of Quang Ninh province discovered that in group 7, zone 5, Quang Hanh ward (Cam Pha city), there was a phenomenon of subsidence on the western side of the hillside.
Immediately, Quang Ninh province requested Cam Pha city and Quang Hanh ward to urgently evacuate 136 households out of the danger zone.
On the night of September 11, nearly 400 people in Quang Hanh ward (area 5 - 68 households, 200 people; area 6 - 38 households, 122 people and area 7A - 30 households, 78 people) were taken to safety.
People were evacuated to relatives and friends' houses in safe areas or were arranged at the following locations: Khe Sim Coal Company Apartment (Northeast Corporation - Ministry of National Defence); cultural houses in Zone 6 and Zone 7A.
On the night of September 11, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with provincial leaders, a number of related departments and branches, and leaders of Cam Pha City were present at the scene to direct the work of ensuring safety and responding to dangerous situations that may occur.
Directing at the scene, the Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee emphasized that in the coming time, the units on duty and on guard must be in very safe positions. Requesting the local government, the Provincial Police and the Department of Transport to have specific plans to regulate traffic in case of landslides affecting National Highway 18.
Especially in case of landslides, there must be very specific solutions and timely forecasts so that surrounding households are informed. For households that have been evacuated, the City Police must have solutions to protect the safety of people's property.
