On April 16, many northern mountainous provinces still maintained sunny weather, with hot sun in some places. However, according to forecasts from the meteorological agency, this hot weather pattern will soon decrease when weak cold air combines low pressure troughs and wind convergence causing widespread thunderstorms in the coming days.
In Cao Bang, according to KTTV station, the weather on April 16 is generally cloudy, no rain at night, sunny during the day, and hot in some places.
However, from April 17 to 19, local weather is forecast to change significantly, cloudy at night and in the morning, with rain, showers and scattered thunderstorms, intermittent sunshine during the day.
The highest temperature drops to about 29 - 31 degrees C. During thunderstorms, the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind needs to be prevented.
In Lao Cai, from the evening and night of April 16 to April 17, due to the influence of the low pressure trough being compressed gradually down to the South, areas in the province have showers, locally moderate rain, heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, common rainfall of 20 - 40mm, in some places over 60mm.
This rain wave is likely to last 3-4 days. Along with that, a cold air mass from the North is moving down, causing the temperature to gradually decrease, the weather to become mildly cool, in highlands and high mountains, it will be lightly cold to cold at night and in the morning. Localized hot weather in low-lying areas is basically over.
Notably, from the evening and night of April 17, the high-altitude wind convergence zone formed in the Lao Cai area will make the weather worse on a large scale, increasing the risk of tornadoes, hail, lightning strikes and localized heavy rain.
Meanwhile, according to Son La Hydrometeorological Station, from the evening of April 16 to the evening of April 17, the whole province will have showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with common rainfall of 10 - 30mm, in some places over 50mm.
The meteorological agency believes that the hot weather in the previous days will soon end. From the night of April 17 to April 18, Son La will continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, accompanied by the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
In Lang Son, on April 16, the weather is forecast to be mild sunshine, cloudy, temperature fluctuating from 23 - 32 degrees C; especially Mau Son area from 19 - 25 degrees C, common humidity 70 - 80%.
Faced with the complicated weather changes, people in localities are advised to closely monitor the forecast bulletin, proactively prevent thunderstorms, landslides, flooding and protect the safety of people, property, crops, and livestock.
