On April 16, Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hanh - Principal of Luong The Vinh Primary School (Ben Cat ward, Ho Chi Minh City) said that the school is currently taking 5 students who were fined for self-injecting needles in their hands for testing and general examination. This is to determine the condition and ensure the health of the children. There are still no examination results.
Regarding the handling of related teachers, the school has requested teachers to conduct self-criticism. The school has temporarily suspended Ms. L.T. M.'s teaching. At the same time, disciplinary steps are being implemented in accordance with regulations for teacher L.T. M.
The school has also arranged for a 3rd grade teacher to replace Ms. L.T. M. Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hanh said that the school will handle it strictly, not allowing the incident to recur.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also said that the Department has directed strict and proper handling according to teacher ethics standards. Currently, Ben Cat ward is taking steps according to regulations and will report the results of the work.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that on April 15, there was a stir online about the incident of some students being punished by the teacher by self-injecting needles into their hands. According to the reflection of a parent (who has a child in 3rd grade at Luong The Vinh Primary School), on April 13, seeing their child coming home from school showing signs of fatigue and unhappiness, the parent pressed him, and he said that because he did not wear a scarf, he was punished by the teacher by injecting needles into his hand.
In addition to the above case, some other students, whenever they violate regulations such as talking, not taking a nap, or violating class rules, are punished by the teacher. The incident makes students afraid, and there is a risk of contracting infectious diseases.
Talking to reporters, a representative of Luong The Vinh Primary School confirmed that the incident occurred in grade 3-6, the teacher involved is Ms. L.T. M. Immediately after receiving the feedback, the school board worked with teachers and parents. It was determined that 5 violating students were fined by self-injecting in their hands.
At the meeting, the teacher said that she had bought a syringe to use for her sick child. The next day, the teacher put it on the table and said to the students: "Anyone who violates or is not well-behaved should take the syringe and inject it into their hand, I don't inject it into their hands".
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hanh, this is an act of violating professional ethics, infringing upon the health and body of children. Teachers are seriously wrong, thinking distortedly about children's education methods, violating children's rights.
