Capacity of 1,200 tons/day but waste generated from 1,300 - 1,600 tons/day
Sonadezi Services Joint Stock Company has just sent a document (June 19) to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province regarding the situation of receiving household waste at Quang Trung Waste Treatment Area (Thong Nhat district).
Accordingly, Sonadezi Services Joint Stock Company is receiving and treating domestic waste from 8 localities: Thong Nhat, Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, Trang Bom, Cam My, Tan Phu, Long Khanh and part of Bien Hoa City with an average volume of 1,200 tons/day brought to Quang Trung Waste Treatment Area, in accordance with the licensed capacity.
However, since the beginning of June, the amount of waste generated daily has fluctuated between 1,300 - 1,600 tons/day, exceeding the licensed capacity.
Following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the company has treated the amount of waste remaining in Bien Hoa city at 1,000 tons, Cam My district at more than 200 tons, Long Thanh district at more than 350 tons, Nhon Trach district at nearly 170 tons, Thong Nhat district at more than 180 tons and Tan Phu district at 35 tons.
However, according to statistics from localities, the amount of waste remaining is still quite large, a total of 4,230 tons. Of which, Bien Hoa city is 2,000 tons, Nhon Trach district is 800 tons, Long Thanh district is 630 tons, Long Khanh city is 400 tons, Tan Phu district is 400 tons.
Receiving more than capacity will risk causing environmental incidents
Mr. Tran Anh Dung - General Director of Sonadezi Services Joint Stock Company - said that because the processing capacity licensed under an environmental license at the compost processing station is only 1,200 tons/day, the company cannot accept more than the limit to ensure environmental safety and comply with legal regulations. Accepting overcapacity poses a risk of causing serious environmental incidents
In the coming time, the company will continue to balance, flexibly receive and process part of the remaining waste of localities, within the permitted capacity.
At the same time, the company recommended that the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Agriculture and Environment direct localities to coordinate in regulating the amount of waste to other waste treatment areas in the province to reduce pressure on the Quang Trung Waste Treatment Area.
Previously, on June 4, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province issued a document announcing the conclusion of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang at the working session to listen to reports on the collection, transportation and treatment of domestic solid waste in the province, requesting the Department of Agriculture and Environment to review all the volume of waste remaining at the garbage transfer stations, review the planning of waste sources, waste treatment plants, propose advice on handling measures to ensure that there is no garbage accumulation in the area.
The waste treatment area in Quang Trung commune, Thong Nhat district (under Sonadezi Service Joint Stock Company) is the largest receiving and treatment facility for household waste in Dong Nai province, accounting for about 65% of the total amount of waste in the area.
