People are upset
Many people in hamlet 5, Ha Trung commune, Thanh Hoa province said that recently they have been very upset about the fact that a shoe material processing enterprise is operating causing odor pollution, greatly affecting life and activities.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cao Son (64 years old, residing in hamlet 5, Ha Trung commune), around July 2025, Sahuntai Vietnam Shoe Material Processing Co., Ltd. came to the locality to lease land in the Hong Hung supermarket area (belonging to Hong Hung Co., Ltd.) to build a shoe processing workshop, causing pollution to cover the residential area.
Notably, the factory area of this company is located close to residential areas, so after production is carried out, people are constantly upset because of the pungent smell, smelling it feels dizzy" - Mr. Son said.
Due to being too outraged by the above situation, at village meetings and voter meetings, people have repeatedly petitioned, and even sent "rescue appeals" to Ha Trung Commune People's Committee and Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to request handling.
Receiving feedback from people, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee issued a document assigning Ha Trung Commune People's Committee to verify and clarify. Through this, Ha Trung Commune People's Committee established an inspection team, worked with the enterprise and requested to stop operations at the factory.
The commune has twice issued documents requesting this company to stop operating, however, the company still does not comply, still proceeds with normal production. It even continuously posts recruitment information" - Mr. Son said.
Police intervene to inspect
Talking to PV of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Trinh Hong Son - Chairman of Ha Trung Commune People's Committee, Thanh Hoa province - informed that the operation of Sahuntai Vietnam Shoe Material Processing Co., Ltd. causing odor pollution, causing people to be upset, the locality has intervened to inspect and has twice issued documents requesting to stop operations.
However, people reflect that this company is still operating "secretly", causing people to continue to be upset. Regarding this issue, the commune has assigned the Commune Police to strengthen inspection and supervision of the enterprise's production activities; if violations are detected, they will be strictly handled according to regulations" - Mr. Son said.
Chairman of Ha Trung Commune People's Committee added that recently Thanh Hoa Provincial Police and functional sectors have directly inspected this company. Currently, the incident is being clarified by the police agency and functional forces in coordination.
The commune has also reported to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Police. Currently, functional sectors of the province are still verifying and clarifying the incident. In case the enterprise still intentionally produces, it will be strictly handled, even prosecuted" - a representative of Ha Trung Commune People's Committee affirmed.
