Thu Thiem 4 bridge project is expected to start construction in the third quarter of 2026 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028.

The project has a total length of about 2.16 km, of which the main bridge section is more than 1.6 km long, designed with 8 lanes (6 motorized lanes, 2 mixed lanes), and a navigation clearance of 15 m.

The bridgehead is on Nguyen Van Linh street (near Tan Thuan 2 bridge), the ending point connects to Nguyen Co Thach street in Thu Thiem New Urban Area. The project has a total capital of more than 5,063 billion VND from the city budget.

When completed, Thu Thiem 4 bridge will shorten travel time between the East and South areas, while reducing the load on overloaded roads such as Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Khanh Hoi bridge and Huynh Tan Phat - Nguyen Van Linh corridor.

Expanding Nguyen Tat Thanh street

Ho Chi Minh City has agreed on the policy of expanding Nguyen Tat Thanh street to at least 8 lanes, towards Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi port area. At the same time, the city will build a new Tan Thuan 1 bridge to replace the existing bridge that is more than 120 years old.

The project is expected to start construction in 2026, associated with the renovation of Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi port area and the expansion of the Relic Area - Ho Chi Minh Museum.

Currently, Nguyen Tat Thanh road is only 8 - 14 m wide with 4 lanes, but traffic volume has exceeded 140% of the designed capacity, often causing serious congestion during peak hours.

The expansion of this road is considered an urgent solution to reduce traffic pressure at the southern gateway.

Binh Tien Bridge and Road

The Binh Tien bridge and road project is expected to start construction in 2026 and be completed in 2028 with a total capital of nearly 6,300 billion VND.

The project consists of two parts: The elevated bridge (highway) is about 3.1 km long, 4 - 6 lanes wide; the parallel road below is more than 3.3 km long, 2 - 6 lanes wide.

The route starts from Pham Van Chi street, crosses Tau Hu canal, Doi canal, crosses Nguyen Van Linh and connects to National Highway 50.

In the context that existing axes such as Nguyen Huu Tho, Duong Ba Trac, Pham Hung are always overloaded, Binh Tien bridge and road will play the role of a new radial route, sharing traffic pressure and increasing connectivity from the center to the South and Hiep Phuoc areas. At the same time, the project also creates important links with Ring Roads 2, 3 and 4 in the future.

Upgrading the North-South axis

The Nguyen Huu Tho road expansion project (North - South axis) will start construction in the third quarter of 2026, and be completed in 2028 in BOT form with a total capital of about 9,894 billion VND.

The section from Nguyen Van Linh to Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, more than 8 km long, will be expanded to 60 m. On this axis, an elevated road will be built with a length of 6.62 km, a cross-section of 18.5 m with 4 car lanes, a design speed of 80 km/h, completely separate from the road below.

Two parallel underground routes with 3 lanes on each side, maximum speed 60 km/h. The project also completes key intersections such as Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho and connects the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway.

When completed, this will be a fast, smooth traffic axis from the city center to the South Saigon urban area and the urban area - Hiep Phuoc port.
