Can Tho voters propose to invest in and synchronously connect the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis with components to make it smooth to major cities, including Can Tho city. The connection aims to ensure the socio-economic development needs of provinces and cities across the country.
Regarding the content of the voters' petition, the Ministry of Construction said that the high-speed railway line on the North-South axis has been approved by the National Assembly in Resolution No. 172/2024/QH15 dated November 30, 2024.
The project starts at Ngoc Hoi station (Hanoi city), ends at Thu Thiem station (Ho Chi Minh City). The project is 1,541km long, with a road surface of 1435 mm. The project is expected to start construction in 2027, striving to complete by 2035.
Agreeing with voters' recommendations, to promote the effectiveness of investment in high-speed railway lines and form a railway network according to the planning, it is necessary to study and invest in connecting railway lines.
