Binh Tien Bridge and Road is one of five key projects to upgrade and expand existing roads under the BOT (build-operate-transfer) model, implemented by Ho Chi Minh City thanks to the special mechanism from Resolution 98.
Currently, people from District 8 and Binh Chanh District to the center of Ho Chi Minh City often go through Duong Ba Trac Street, Kenh Xang Bridge, Nguyen Van Cu Bridge, Chu Y Bridge, Cha Va Bridge... However, these routes are often overloaded, causing serious traffic jams.
The Binh Tien bridge and road project is expected to help relieve traffic on existing roads.
Mr. Ta Hoai An (District 8) expressed his joy at the news of the construction of Binh Tien bridge and road. Mr. An said that during rush hour in the morning and afternoon, Tung Thien Vuong street towards Cha Va bridge often experiences traffic jams, making travel quite difficult.
"Hopefully, the Binh Tien bridge and road project will soon be approved and construction will begin to make travel more convenient," said Mr. An.
According to the initial report on the project's pre-feasibility study, Binh Tien bridge and road has a total length of 3.66km, starting from the Binh Tien - Pham Van Chi intersection (District 6), crossing Vo Van Kiet Avenue, Tau Hu Canal, Cay Sung Street (District 8), Doi Canal, Ta Quang Buu Street, before connecting to Nguyen Van Linh Avenue (Binh Chanh District).
The Binh Tien bridge and road project has a total investment capital of about 6,800 billion VND, of which construction costs account for 2,529 billion VND, more than 2,878 billion VND for site clearance...
The project requires the acquisition of 21.27 hectares of land, affecting a total of 398 households, of which 189 households will be partially cleared and 200 households will be completely cleared.
The proposed capital for the project includes 3,458 billion VND (about 50.38%) mobilized under the BOT form and 3,405 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget.
Ms. Thu Giang (a resident on Binh Tien Street, District 6, expected to be affected by the demolition of her house), said that her family is ready to hand over their house and land to implement the project. "We are used to living here, making a living by trading, so we hope that the State will have a satisfactory compensation plan," Ms. Thu Giang expressed.
According to the plan, the pre-feasibility study report for the Binh Tien bridge and road project will be completed by the end of 2024 or early 2025. After approval, the city will select an investor to implement the project from 2025 to 2028.
