On the afternoon of September 9, according to a quick report from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Simacai district, due to the impact of storm No. 3, heavy rains have continuously occurred in the area, causing serious consequences.
Currently, most of the roads are blocked due to landslides, rocks, and trees. Some isolated points are in Simacai town, Lung Than, Quan Ho Than, Thao Chu Phin, Nan Sin, Nan San communes...
The central area of Si Ma Cai town is flooded, the water level of the central lake of the district is very high, the whole district is currently lacking clean water.
In addition, some schools had their entire schoolyards flooded and water overflowed to the first floor of classrooms; some schools and school sites had landslides that cracked walls and damaged classrooms.
Notably, in Hoa Binh village, San Chai commune, a serious landslide occurred this morning (September 9), causing 3 houses to collapse completely, 2 households escaped in time.
However, 1 household did not escape in time, causing 5 people to be buried.
Authorities immediately deployed rescue plans. After 20 minutes, Sung A Nh (born 2021) was rescued and taken to the emergency room.
The remaining 4 people in Nh's family (including father, mother, older sister and younger sister) all died.
Currently, all victims have been found and handed over to their relatives for funeral arrangements.
On the same morning, two landslides occurred consecutively, one of which involved a large amount of rock and soil flooding into four households in Phin Chai village (A Lu commune, Bat Xat), leaving seven people missing.
Next was a landslide that completely collapsed a house of Vang Seo Khoa's household in Hau Dao village (Ban Pho commune, Bac Ha), burying 5 people.
