According to information from the Lao Cai Province Hydrometeorological Station, the flood on the Red River continues to rise; the highest flood peak is likely to reach 84.5 - 85 m; the flood peak will appear around 12 - 13 o'clock on September 9.
The rapid rise of the Red River caused many roads and residential areas in Lao Cai city to be flooded, affecting people's property.
To minimize human and property damage, Lao Cai city requested the People's Committees of communes and wards to mobilize forces to urgently support the evacuation of households along both sides of the Red River to safety.
At the same time, send forces to be on duty, put up warning signs for deeply flooded roads, and warn people not to go through the above areas to ensure safety.
On September 9, Lao Cai city evacuated 92 households (369 people) at risk of landslides, living near Ngoi Duong stream, Ngoi Bo stream, Red river... to safe shelters.
According to the Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter on the afternoon of September 9 at the foot of Pho Moi Bridge (Van Hoa Commune), the floodwaters of the Red River have submerged many streets in the city. The embankment area next to the river is currently submerged in water.
Currently, Lao Cai city has directed agencies and units to implement plans on stockpiling goods for natural disaster prevention and control to proactively support households in affected areas. The amount of goods proactively can immediately meet the needs of about 6,000 people within 10 days.
