On July 27, leaders of Phu An Ward People's Committee (HCMC) said that the Ward Police are coordinating with units to verify and clarify real estate transactions related to the death of Mr. H.B.L (37 years old, from Nghe An).
Phu An Ward is the locality with the land plot that Mr. H.B.L's family bought. Currently, functional agencies are verifying and clarifying issues surrounding this transaction.
Talking to reporters, the family of Ms. H.T. T (72 years old, from Nghe An, Mr. H.B.L's biological mother) said that the family had taken care of the funeral for Mr. H.B.L.
According to Ms. H.T. T, Mr. L bought the land plot in Phu An ward with the desire to build a house for his family to live in together. From then on, her whole family will not have to rent a room, and life will be precarious. This land plot has an area of 202 m2.
Also according to Ms. T, the process of buying land has caused legal troubles that worried the family. After Mr. L died, the family also reported to the authorities, hoping that the authorities would intervene and verify and clarify the case.
Recorded, in recent days, the story of Mr. H.B.L suspected of committing suicide due to falling into a deadlock after buying land that is said to be overlapping the boundary has attracted much attention. Some philanthropists have spoken out to donate land to Ms. T's family to build a house to stabilize their lives.
Talking to reporters, Ms. H.T. T expressed her gratitude to the benefactors. Ms. T said that it was too great a favor, the family did not dare to accept it. The family's wish is that functional agencies intervene to clarify the case and protect the family's rights according to Mr. L.'s wishes.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported on the incident, at about 1 am on July 25, Mr. H.B.L wrote a suicide note posted on his personal page. About 2 hours later, relatives came to the electric bicycle shop (Bui Thi Xuan street, Tan Dong Hiep ward, Ho Chi Minh City), and discovered that Mr. L had died.
According to information Mr. L shared on his personal page before his death, in mid-2025, he sold his family's common house, gathered more than 1 billion VND to buy land to build a house for his elderly mother and younger sister. An acquaintance introduced him to a land plot of more than 200 m2 in Phu An ward for 1.22 billion VND. Mr. L signed a transfer contract and let his younger sister be named.
When completing the name transfer, the family discovered that the land plot was overlapping the boundary by more than half of the area with adjacent land. Many times requesting resolution, he only received promises or explanations that the land was only in the wrong coordinates. The resale of the land plot also failed when the new buyer discovered the error of overlapping the boundary.
After that, the broker proposed to exchange it for another land plot in Tay Ninh, but this land plot also caused a boundary dispute. Believing that the family had lost all assets accumulated for many years and fell into a deadlock, he wrote a suicide note, appealed to functional agencies, and apologized to relatives before intending to seek death.
