Lao Cai will reduce over 2,000 near-poor households in 2025

Lao Cai strives to reduce over 2,000 near-poor households and support the construction and repair of more than 3,000 houses for poor and near-poor households.

In recent years, Lao Cai province has made efforts to promote information poverty reduction, in order to promptly convey the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on poverty reduction; contributing to changing the awareness of the poor, clearly understanding the meaning and purpose of poverty reduction, thereby determined to rise up and escape poverty sustainably.

Implementing that policy, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee set a target of reducing the multidimensional poverty rate in 2025 by 4% or more, in which the poverty rate in poor districts and poor communes will decrease by 7%/year or more.

Lao Cai sets a target of reducing over 2,000 near-poor households in 2025; over 60% of communes with poor household ratio meeting new rural construction criteria (76 communes have completed the poverty criteria); support the construction and repair of more than 3,000 new houses for poor households and near-poor households in poor districts.

100% of workers from poor households and near-poor households of working age who are in need are advised on vocational training and job referrals (10,000 workers).

To achieve the goal of multidimensional, inclusive, sustainable poverty reduction, limiting re-perty and poverty arising; 7 solutions and 6 main tasks will be implemented in 2025.

First of all, it is necessary to raise awareness of self-respecting poverty reduction of poor and near-poor households; research and build a model of a Self-management Group for poverty reduction to gather well-off or already-poor households with poor and near-poor households to help each other in sustainable poverty reduction.

Increase income for poor households, near-poor households, and ethnic minority households through vocational training, consulting, and stable job creation.

Of which, new training and refreshment for over 11,500 people; organized over 70 sessions of transactions, conferences to propagate and advise on employment policies, introduce jobs, attracting over 150 businesses to participate in labor recruitment, each session attracted about 35-45 workers to participate, creating a spread for about 15,000 people.

Created jobs for 10,000 workers, of which over 200 workers were exported. In addition, effectively implement policies to support production development; effectively implement the Resolution of the Provincial People's Council on the use of local budgets entrusted through the Social Policy Bank to lend for socio-economic development in communes with a poverty rate of 40%.

Support poor and near-poor households to access basic social services: Education and Training; health; eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; implement a clean water and rural environmental sanitation program; increase information on facilities, invest in the commune-level Radio Station system...

Organize emulation movements to reduce poverty: Timely reward, commend and replicate typical advanced examples in poverty reduction and poverty reduction work.

Mobilize organizations, individuals, businesses, especially clans and villages to join hands to support and share in life, labor and production so that the poor can escape poverty.

Continue to review and evaluate the quality of the team of commune cadres and civil servants. Implement rotation and transfer of cadres to work in communes with high poverty rates and communes in ethnic minority areas. Assign specific responsibility and emulation targets to Party committees, authorities and Party members (especially leaders) in implementing the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.

Effectively implement the key projects of the Provincial Party Committee for the period 2020 - 2025 to contribute to sustainable poverty reduction.

The total capital requirement for implementing sustainable poverty reduction tasks in 2025 is 150 billion VND from the State budget and people's contributions.

Mr. Tran Phung - Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Lao Cai province - said that the province will promptly and effectively use investment resources from 3 national target programs to contribute to sustainable poverty reduction.

Strengthen inspection, supervision and evaluation of implementation results, in conjunction with preliminary and final reports and draw lessons in the work of organizing and implementing the poverty reduction program. Do a good job of emulation and reward to promptly encourage collectives and individuals.
