On August 25, Lao Cai Provincial Department of Construction informed that the unit had just issued a document requesting localities and units to strengthen ensuring traffic order and safety during National Day September 2 and the peak month of traffic safety for students.
The holiday lasts 5 days, from August 29 to September 2, coinciding with the preparation time for the opening of the 2026 - 2027 school year. The travel demand of people, tourists and students is forecast to increase.
Localities are required to coordinate with the Police and schools to organize traffic in the school gate area, remind students to comply with regulations, and not to drive motorbikes and mopeds when they are not old enough or do not meet the conditions.
Routes at risk of landslides, flash floods, underground spillways, steep mountain passes and points with limited visibility must be reviewed and supplemented with warning signs and barriers.
Road management units strengthen road patrols, handle damage, clear lawns and prepare personnel and vehicles to respond to incidents.
For traffic projects under construction, contractors must restore the road surface, ensure signs, barriers, warning lights; temporarily suspend items that may cause congestion and unsafety during the holidays.
Key routes to focus on include National Highway 4D Lao Cai - Sa Pa section, National Highway 4E Lung Phinh intersection - Bac Ha commune center section, National Highway 32, provincial roads 156, 158, 174 and roads to tourist destinations.
The Department of Construction also requested passenger transport units, bus stations, and inland waterway stations to strictly implement plans to serve travel needs, ensuring safe and smooth traffic during holidays and the opening of the new school year.
