Previously, at about 10:30 am on August 11, during patrol and control on the Chay River route, the task force discovered a rudimentary waterway vehicle operating in the left bank of the Chay River, belonging to Trung Do village, Bao Nhai commune.
At the time of inspection, the driver used a wooden boat to cast nets to fish but did not wear a personal life jacket.
The working group requested the vehicle to stop operating, inspect, explain the violation and make a record of handling.
Violators are fined 1.5 million VND according to Decree 139 on sanctioning administrative violations in the field of inland waterway traffic.
According to functional agencies, the Chay River has many deep water sections, complex flows, and potential risks of accidents, especially for small and rudimentary vehicles.
Some areas near hydropower projects have been installed with warning signs for deep water, dangerous areas and the protection scope of works.
Functional agencies recommend that people when participating in waterway traffic must wear life jackets or use life-saving floating devices as prescribed, and not be subjective whether traveling by small vehicles or on short distances.
