On August 28, functional forces of Lam Dong province are clarifying the boat capsizing incident that occurred on the Dong Nai 2 hydropower reservoir, in Loc Chau village, Bao Thuan commune.
According to a report from Riverine Police Team No. 1 (Lam Vien - Da Lat), at about 8:30 PM on August 27, the unit received a report about a group of people riding a rudimentary boat on the lake being overturned.
Previously, in the afternoon of August 27, a group of 11 people came to Mr. Nguyen Manh Thanh's raft on the Dong Nai 2 hydropower lake to eat and drink.
At about 8 pm, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung used a homemade boat to carry 8 people including Nguyen Tien Duy, Nguyen Thanh Toan, Nguyen Trong Hieu, Le Trong Tai, Nguyen Van Luong, Phuong, K' Brit and Nguyen Manh Thanh ashore.
When the boat was about 20m from the shore, due to being heavily loaded and losing balance, the vehicle capsized, causing 8 people to fall into the water. Mr. Le Trong Tai and Nguyen Van Luong sank, while the remaining 6 people swam ashore.
Upon receiving the news, the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Provincial Police (PC08) directed Riverine Police Team No. 1 to coordinate with professional units, Bao Thuan Commune Police and local authorities to deploy searches.
At about 1 pm on the same day, functional forces found the bodies of 2 victims, Nguyen Van Luong and Le Trong Tai.
Currently, functional forces are examining the scene, taking statements from related people and coordinating for autopsy to clarify the incident.
