On April 13, the People's Committee of Binh Chieu Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City issued a ballot to collect voters' opinions on the arrangement and merger of provincial-level administrative units.
People are requested to give their opinions on merging the entire natural area and population of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong province and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to establish the new Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the plan of arrangement of administrative units at the provincial level, they will be consulted with voters, Ho Chi Minh City will be a city directly under the Central Government on the basis of merging three administrative units at the provincial level, including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong Province and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.
This performs two tasks in parallel: Arranging the provincial administrative unit and arranging administrative units at the grassroots level.
Ensure that after the arrangement, Ho Chi Minh City is a centrally-governed city, effectively implementing the two-level government model in accordance with the Constitution (amended) and the Law on Organization of Local Government (amended).
At the same time, promoting the potential and advantages of three localities in terms of land, population size, economic growth results, striving to become a new growth of the country and the Southeast region in the coming time.
Ho Chi Minh City has just arranged and merged with an area of 6,772.65 km² (reaching 135.43% of the standard). The population size of 13,706,632 people (reaching 979.04% of the standard). The number of affiliated administrative units is 190 units.

The administrative and political center of Ho Chi Minh City is located at 86 Le Thanh Ton, District 1.
