At 11:00 a.m. on December 8, the memorial service for 12 martyrs who died while participating in a defense exercise at the National Shooting Range, Region 3 (Xuan Tam Commune, Xuan Loc District, Dong Nai) took place solemnly at the Southern National Funeral Home (Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City).
On behalf of the Funeral Committee, Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc - Standing Member of the Party Committee, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 7 - read the eulogy in memory of the martyrs.
"Today, in infinite grief and sorrow, the Party Committee and Command of Military Region 7; the Party Committee and Command of Infantry Division 5; the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Thuan, Binh Duong, and Dong Nai provinces, together with the families of the martyrs, solemnly held a memorial service and sent off the comrades and soldiers who sacrificed their lives while performing a drill mission on December 2, 2024 to their final resting place" - Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc emotionally shared.
Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc said that the martyrs passed away at a very young age, full of enthusiasm and aspiration. They were loyal soldiers, ready to face danger to protect the peace of the Fatherland and the happy life of the people. Their sacrifice is a testament to the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new era - always brave and determined to complete all tasks regardless of difficulties, hardships or imminent danger.
In the emotional moment of parting, leaders, officers, soldiers, family members and a large number of people respectfully bowed to bid farewell to 12 beloved soldiers of Company 3, Battalion 17, Division 5, Military Region 7, who heroically sacrificed their lives while performing their duties.
After the memorial service, the bodies of the 12 martyrs were taken by car to be buried at local martyrs' cemeteries. Leaders, officers, soldiers of the armed forces, family members and many people bowed their heads to bid farewell to the martyrs, expressing deep gratitude for their heroic sacrifice.
Earlier that morning, a memorial service for 12 soldiers was held at the Southern National Funeral Home. According to the Organizing Committee, in the morning, 157 delegations, with more than 3,500 people, came to pay their respects to the souls of the martyrs.
At the funeral, the Organizing Committee conducted a ceremony to posthumously present noble awards to the 12 martyrs. The President posthumously awarded the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal; the Prime Minister posthumously awarded the "Fatherland's Gratitude" Certificate; the Central Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union posthumously awarded the "Brave Youth" Badge to recognize the outstanding and outstanding achievements of the martyrs in performing defensive combat exercises.
Representatives of the martyrs' families were moved to receive the Fatherland Protection Medal, the Fatherland's Merit Certificate and the Brave Youth Badge with infinite pride and sorrow.
