On August 30, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) signed a contract for the package "Consulting on management and operation of Long Thanh International Airport".
Since early June 2024, ACV has conducted international bidding procedures to select contractors to provide consulting services for the management and operation of Long Thanh airport.
After 3 months of implementing the process according to the provisions of the Bidding Law, on August 22, 2024, ACV announced the winning contractor as the Incheon Airport consortium.
The consortium consists of 2 members, with the leading member being Incheon International Airport Corporation - Korea, and the second member being PMI Consulting Services Joint Stock Company - Vietnam.

With the completion of the selection of a consulting contractor for management and operation, ACV is committed to implementing the plan to put Long Thanh airport into operation on schedule, with quality, safety and efficiency.
According to ACV, the coordination with a consulting unit experienced in the management and exploitation of international transit airports to have appropriate and synchronous management and exploitation solutions ready to put Long Thanh airport into operation with high efficiency, improving competitiveness, contributing to concretizing the vision of "becoming a competitive international transit airport and on par with major centers in the ASEAN region and Asia".
Long Thanh airport construction investment project is one of the important national projects of the transport sector.
Long Thanh Airport is planned to reach level 4F according to the classification of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the scale and capacity after completing all 3 phases is 100 million passengers/year and 5 million tons of cargo/year.
In the immediate future, phase 1 will invest in building a runway, a passenger terminal with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year, a cargo terminal with a capacity of 1.2 million tons of cargo/year, and synchronous auxiliary items.
Mr. Lai Xuan Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), said that the Long Thanh airport project phase 1 is expected to be completed and test run before August 31, 2026. By September 2, 2026, Long Thanh airport will welcome its first commercial flight.
