Near the people, close to the people, spreading the spirit of overcoming difficulties
In recent years, the Lien Son Lak commune government, along with village elders, village chiefs and prestigious people, have implemented many propaganda activities to raise awareness among the people. Thanks to that, people have gradually changed their way of thinking, eliminating many outdated customs such as superstition, early marriage...
This is an important foundation to help the locality stabilize its lives, significantly reducing the evils that have existed for many years in ethnic minority areas.
To promote the role of prestigious people, Lien Son Lak commune has focused on creating conditions for them to participate in grassroots unions and train knowledge of agricultural and forestry production.
From there, they become a bridge to spread knowledge and experience in household economy, helping people access effective farming models.

For example, Mr. Y San Luc (born in 1956, Dak Lieng commune) is one of the typical examples, trusted and respected by the people.
Not only actively mobilizing villagers to abandon bad customs, he also directly guides people in farming and applying new techniques.
Every time a disease occurs in the herd, Mr. Y San Luc travels long distances to report to the authorities as well as request medicine, vaccine and coordinate in organizing vaccination.
Taking advantage of the State's seedling and seedling support programs, he has guided people to grow high-quality corn, sugarcane, and rice, contributing to increasing productivity, ensuring food and improving income.
Mr. Y San Luc shared: "I have been involved in village trading for decades. Only by changing their thinking and working style can people escape poverty, be content enough and have the conditions to build more spacious houses".
Thanks to the enthusiasm of prestigious people such as Mr. Y San Luc and the support of the government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the commune and socio-political organizations, the movement to eliminate bad customs in Lien Son Lak has achieved many positive results.
Bad things such as fortune-telling, superstition, and child marriage are pushed back, giving way to a civilized and progressive lifestyle. The reality in Lien Son Lak shows that when people are united, officials close to the people and prestigious people properly promote their role, the journey to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty will be significantly shortened.
That is also the way to preserve a good cultural identity, replace bad customs with knowledge and a sustainable prosperous life.

Life improves, social evils decrease
In recent years, Lien Son Lak commune has recorded a clear change. Thanks to social security policies and the National Target Program, people's lives have improved, social evils have decreased significantly, and legal awareness has been increasingly enhanced.
In the commune, there is almost no situation of ethnic minority students dropping out of school halfway. Most households are able to use electricity and water for hygiene. Many roads have been concreted, facilitating connections to the commune center and villages and hamlets.
Mr. Y Tho Mlo - Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs of Lien Son Lak commune said that in the early years of implementing poverty reduction programs, the locality encountered many difficulties due to limited awareness of the people and many bad customs.

Every cadre, especially the party member, sets an example, trains and enhances a sense of responsibility. They have become a driving force to help people change their thinking, gradually eliminate bad customs, and strive to get rich legitimately," said Mr. Y Tho Mlo.
Currently, Lien Son Lak commune has 963 poor households and 367 near-poor households. In the coming time, Lien Son Lak commune will continue to promote propaganda and mobilize resources for agricultural and rural development; at the same time, encourage people to participate in new production models, apply science and technology to increase income.
We persevere in the goal of rapid and sustainable poverty reduction, creating a better living environment for people in ethnic minority areas, Mr. Y Tho Mlo emphasized.

With the participation of the entire political system and the spirit of solidarity of the people, Lien Son Lak commune is changing strongly.
In recent times, the locality has become a bright spot in promoting the role of village elders and prestigious people associated with hunger eradication and poverty reduction and building new rural areas. Thereby, contributing to the general goal of the Central Government on sustainable development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
